Contract Designer May 2020 - June 2021 Interned with Retora games in Austin, TX and designed new content and systems for an upcoming title in the Merchant franchise. Using the Corona 2D game engine, I developed for mobile platforms and learned the Lua scripting language. This internship taught me how to best utilize data parsing systems to quickly implement design changes made in spreadsheet applications to better enable a development team. |
NSF REU Site: GIS for Disaster Resilience Spatial Thinking
Level Designer | Game Designer May 2019 - August 2019 At the Rochester Institute of Technology, I developed a pipeline to translate geospatial data into a 3D environment in Unity. We used this method to make Navigate Disaster; a strategy game where the player is an emergency manager during a natural disaster similar to Hurricane Harvey. I recreated the Greater Galveston, TX area to a near 1:1 scale and used other GIS datasheets to design gameplay. This project proved that GIS could be used to accurately recreate real world environments in a game space. |

IT Intern May 2017 - August 2017 Accepted a summer internship in Chicago, where I provided on-site technical support to research assistants on windows 7/10 machines using data collection software and hardware to research user experience on social media platforms. Assisted the IT Director in operation and maintenance of Cisco-oriented network infrastructure, actively assigning VLANs for media presentation from multiple sources in a HDMI Matrix. IT/Caretaker Intern Feb. 2016 - June 2016 Accepted internship at a refugee camp in Muenster, Germany, where I assisted with daily operations and provided on-site IT support to camp staff and upper-management. Accompanied refugees to meetings with state officials and doctors, providing translation when needed. Transcribed camp announcements and postings from German-to-English (and vice versa). Troubleshot camp IT and electrical systems including; MS Office applications, printers, wireless internet, lighting, HVAC, and small appliances. Documented pre-existing camp IT infrastructure for re-purposing. Used python to create an organized and user-friendly scheduling system. |
